The sustainability grand rounds is a platform for educating university staff and health care workers about how they may improve their delivery of sustainable healthcare. It aims to increase the amount and volume of conversation in relation to this topic. This meeting provides an opportunity to share learnings, understand what is being delivered and what can be done but also a space to help each other overcome obstacles.

    Sustainability Grand Rounds 05/04/2023

    Sarah Barker, MinterEllison, guest speaker

Head of Climate & Sustainability Risk Governance at the Asia-Pacific's largest commercial law firm, MinterEllison, will talk about climate change is not just about polar bears and disappearing forests. She will help us think about this key environmental issue in different relevant contexts – from health outcomes to financial wealth and legal liability.

In addition to a roster of large ASX-, NYSE- and LSE-listed clients across the energy and resources, banking, financial services, industrial and retail sectors, Sarah's expertise has been called upon by institutions from the Bank of England to UN Principles for Responsible Investment. She brings the practical perspective as an experienced non-executive director in the financial services sector, having recently completed two terms on the board of one of Australia's largest pension funds.

Sarah is a non-executive director of the Commonwealth Climate & Law Initiative, sits on the SteerCo of the Australian Chapter of the international Climate Governance Initiative, and on the Australian Accounting Standards Board's Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee.

Sarah led the team recognised as global Law Firm of the Year – Impact by Environmental Finance in 2020.
